Here we are, back with the never-ending story of the soon-to-be media console.
Part I of this post was very long, but the preparation steps were quite hard and time-onsoleonsuming. This time though I’ll promise I’ll be quick. Continue reading

The new life of a thrifted dresser as a media console Pt. I
As you might have realised by now each time we stay in Italy for a bit we put ourselves in the position of doing some huge diy project that we manage to finish just few days before leaving. I am not complaining, at all: we love the things that come up like that, at the very end, without planning, just hard work and fun.
So before moving to Australia one of the various projects we tackled was a media console for Matteo’s mum. Continue reading
Nordic spa sink cabinet
Matteo’s dad has been restoring part his house during the summer. It is an old stone house in the hillside of Padova, really close and in the same style as the place where we got married. One of the things he was renovating was the bathroom. He was going to reuse the old bathroom fixture, since they were just few years old, including an above-counter sink. Continue reading
Wooden toy furniture
Christmas is almost here!
So I thought it was time to share a quick diy I actually did last year. It’s the perfect present for a little girl! Continue reading
DIY wood folding door
Here comes a new DIY: a green wood folding door. We did it for my mom’s house: it closes a sort of closet placed under the stairs in her garden. So we wanted something light, that would fit well in the outdoors and especially that could be folded and take up little space. Continue reading
Feliz Navidad and a Happy New Year!
After two weeks of disappearance I’m back again to posting, and hopefully I’ll be more stable and dedicated to the blog. Or at least this is the resolution of 2014 concerning sealinthefog.com! Continue reading
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who’s the goldest of them all?
Recently it was my sister’s birthday and searching for a present I couldn’t really find something cute and right for her. I was looking for something for her bedroom in her student’s apartment, so it had to fit well with the rest of the furniture and I wanted it to be useful as well. Continue reading
A chest of drawers makeover
We had this hand-me-downs chest of drawers. Although we didn’t like the color, it is a really useful and well-done piece. It was custom-built by a carpenter and essentially designed for the bathroom: the open-top part is perfect for the hair-dryer and brushes. Continue reading
A thrifted tv stand and bar cabinet
When we rented our apartment in Padova we were lucky enough to find a semi-furnished one. I have to say that it was quite hard to find an empty house within our price range. I think it’s because here the renters are usually students, which of course prefer having furnished rooms. But after a good hunt we found what we were looking for: an apartment with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen-living room, a terrace and a garage. And the only furniture was the expensive one: the kitchen with appliances and a table, and a wardrobe (and an ugly but really big bookcase for all our books). Big hit. Continue reading
Whitewashed cupboard
When we moved in our cute apartment in Madrid we found there a huge wooden cupboard. It was in really good shape and I think the girls that lived there before us had just bought it since it actually looked quite new. But for our kitchen-living room-entrance (yes, I told you it was a small place) it was way too big, and the landlord wanted to throw it away. Continue reading
